New York Times Square environmentally friendly billboards do not use LEDs

On the eve of Christmas this year, the New York Times Square will erect the first environmentally friendly billboards that are powered by the wind and the sun.

According to the New York Times reported on the 15th, this green billboard will be erected on the White Avenue, production work will begin this month. The green billboard will come from 16 wind turbines and 64 solar panels. It is estimated to save $120,000 to $150,000 per month in electricity bills and reduce carbon emissions by 18 tons.

Billboards will be illuminated by floodlights instead of diodes, even if there is no wind or sunlight for 4 days, but will automatically dim if there is a lack of wind and sunlight for a long time. The environmentally friendly billboard is 38 meters wide, 14 meters high and weighs 16 tons. It is scheduled to be put into use on December 4.
